Parent's Meeting Recap
Happy Last Day of School, Chestnut Creek!! Now it's time to really kick off the summer with our first home meet next week on Wednesday against Piedmont Bend!! Morning practice starts tomorrow and the schedule is as follows, but is subject to change depending on specific group turnouts for the next two days:
8:30-9:00: 6 and Under's
9:00-9:30: 7 and 8's
9:30-10:15: 9 through 12's
10:15-11:00: 13 and Up's
We have also talked to our swimmers and decided on the first spirit theme of the year... BEACH/LUAU! Come dressed in your best summer attire, we can't wait to see the crazy outfits your kids come up with!
Lastly, for those of you who were not able to attend the parent meeting on Monday, here are a few of the things we discussed:
-The only new "rule" change for this year is that the coaches are now asking for any parent or guardian to please remain off the pool deck and under the pavilion while their child is swimming. The coaches are trying to promote an attitude of focus during practice to eliminate any communication problems or safety issues between coaches and swimmers. We sincerely appreciate everyone's cooperation and support on this and we ask that parents/guardian's of all age groups respect this so we can hold everyone to an equal standard. We also ask that any siblings who might tag along to practice or are practicing later, to please remain on the playground until their practice time.
-Leader caps are given out at the donut party the day after each meet to reward swimmers who have shown exceptional listening, behavior, positive attitude, sportsmanship, and performance during practice and meets. We give these out to each age group to promote a little healthy competition and get the kids motivated to be the best that they can be in and out of the pool.
-Volunteers are needed to help run our meets, so any time that you can help out before, during, or after a meet is VERY much appreciated.
-We are running TIME TRIALS this upcoming Friday, so please try and have your swimmer there if possible! We use time trials as a practice meet for the newer swimmers and to help us determine what meet events your child should be in, as well as relay swimmers. Their attendance at time trials is very important!
-The county time standard for a child being entered in a meet is that they must be able to swim one lap in 1:30, so the time trials on Friday will help us determine who is eligible to swim or not (this applies to 6 and Under's as well). If your swimmer does not make the cut for this meet or does not feel confident enough to swim in a meet just yet, please encourage them come watch the meet because it really helps them understand how fun the meets are and how supportive our team is. We want the kids to have FUN during practice and meets and our goal is to have every swimmer entered in at least one meet by the end of the summer.
